SAFE Defence for Children

gallery 090301074445-RHYS-WOOF.JPGOur SAFE Defence course for children is a scenario based course designed at helping children develop assertive communication skills, boundary setting skills and practical self defence skills. SAFE stands for Street Awareness For Empowerment. The program is all about teaching children useful life skills to prevent bullying before it occurs, verbally deal with it if it does occur, and to deal with physical attacks.

Our motto is simple: "It is better to avoid than to run; run than to talk; talk rather than fight; fight rather than be hurt."

The SAFE Defence course has been developed by professional violence prevention consultants in conjunction with developmental psychologists and is age specific. We have had children as young as 4 complete the course. The program is scenario based and involves interaction with trained roleplayers during a variety of scenarios that get more intense as the day progresses.

We run one of these courses each school semester and the course cost is included with a childs membership. Firends and visitors are welcome to attend the course for a nominal charge. We have had many children repeat the course multiple times because they say it's so much fun! The parents value the course because of the personal safety skills their children develop.
